TESTIMONIALS
“Having reviewed Brooke’s professional development course, I have been sufficiently impressed by both its quality and potential impact. The resource addresses a significant gap in teacher education by providing practical guidance around visible differences, inclusion, anti-bullying approaches, and appropriate
responses to student curiosity and peer interactions. Her platform empowers educators with the confidence to navigate conversations that many find challenging, while simultaneously promoting empathy, respect, and inclusive school cultures. Importantly, the program aligns strongly with contemporary wellbeing frameworks and multi-tiered approaches to student support that are increasingly being adopted throughout Australian schools. I can clearly see the benefits that would arise from the broader implementation and promotion of Brooke’s work.

“I wish this program was available when I was still teaching, it would have made teaching and supporting students with visible differences and their classmates a lot easier.”
Importantly, this is a contemporary, evidence-informed resource that reflects current understanding of inclusion, wellbeing, and student belonging.”
I would strongly recommend this program to schools seeking to strengthen their commitment to diversity, student wellbeing, and inclusive educational practice.

“Beyond the Classroom’ is a training resource that would complement the professional learning of adults working in schools. In addition to educating adults on visible difference, the program advocates for the explicit teaching of children as to what constitutes visible difference and guides educators through what to do in the event that children notice this difference. Additionally, and most importantly, ‘Beyond the Classroom’ provides suggestions around how best to support the child with a visible difference. The training advocates for student voice and family consultation in navigating visible difference. Whilst the importance of consultation and collaboration is reflected in the AITSL (Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership) standards, these are gaps in initial teacher training. The resource encourages open and honest dialogue about difference with both the student and their family – a conversation that some teachers may be reluctant to have for fear of offending the child or their family. I would recommend this resource to any adult working in a school. Inclusivity through the education and empowerment of children, is the important work of all schools.”
